Databarracks awarded a G-Cloud iii framework agreement

We are very proud to announce that Databarracks has been accepted onto G-Cloud iii, the Government's procurement framework for cloud computing services.

This is the second year that we have been supplying cloud services to the public sector. Our services are available in Lots 1, 3 and 4 or Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Specialist Cloud Services.

Specifically the services you can find on the CloudStore are:

  • Infrastructure as a Service
  • Co-Location
  • Hosted ExchangeLaptop Backup and Endpoint Protection
  • AWS Design and Build
  • AWS Manage and Support
  • Backup as a ServiceDisaster Recovery as a Service
  • Virtual Disaster Recovery

Since the inception of the G-Cloud, we have always been strong supporters of what the framework stands to achieve. The CloudStore allows the public sector access to a much wider variety of suppliers, while pan-governmental accreditation means security standards are maintained. Governmental tender processes have previously been notoriously complex, but G-Cloud provides a simplified process for public sector organisations and suppliers.

Coinciding with our announcement is the news that the new CloudStore is now live. A big part of making G-Cloud a success will be determined by the CloudStore.  If there is to be a real shift in the way that the public sector buys its IT services, the CloudStore needs to look great and make it easy to find and compare services and suppliers.  The new version is a leap forward both in terms of the interface and the ability to filter based on some of the most important factors.

The CloudStore is by no means perfect, however. In fact, when searching for our own services, not all of them appear as they should. But even with these minor bugs still evident, it is a huge step in the right direction towards simplifying cloud services in the public sector.
