We have a winner!

Following the success of Beat the Noisy Neighbours at Cloud World Forum in June, we launched a web-based version of the game for just 2 weeks, giving players another chance to win a Sonos Play: 3 wireless sound system.

A big "congratulations" goes to Mr. Tejinder Singh, who cemented his place at the top of the leaderboard when the game closed on Friday night, beating over 1000 other registered scores. Tejinder's determination and tenacity saw him fill up the leaderboard taking several of the high-scores in the top 10. The final leaderboard can be found here.

Beat the Noisy Neighbours was a game of quick reactions and a steady hand - staying calm under pressure and reacting to your environment to maintain consistency and limit disruption to your service. The game was designed to highlight how difficult it can be to keep that consistency in a multi-tenant environment with many "Noisy Neighbours" affecting your performance.

We released the game to highlight the findings from our benchmarking report showing how we use SolidFire SSD storage to provide consistent storage performance on our IaaS platform.

The Noisy Neighbour effect is that when sharing a multi-tenant cloud environment, users' quality of service can be negatively affected by the activity levels of others in the cloud, as they share the same resource. By allocating each customer a dedicated number of IOPS, the performance you receive isn't affected by any other users, meaning you get a consistent and reliable service.
