How apprenticeships are shaping our company culture at Databarracks
We've always made it clear that our number one priority is our customers. We work really hard to ensure we're at the top of our game in terms of providing an excellent customer experience. We build a relationship with every customer from day one, so that when you need some help, we already understand your business. And this all starts with our technicians.
We have a technical support team to be envious of. They are all extremely knowledgeable, hardworking and, above all, they're passionate about technology. So how do we create this kind of customer-centric, technology-obsessed culture within our company?
One route we've found extremely effective is STEM apprenticeships (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths). By recruiting a technical apprentice, you know you'll be working with someone who has a passion for the subject and are willing to learn in a very hands-on way. Our apprentices tell us that while classroom-based learning through college didn't captivate them, the thought of diving in at the deep end and learning new IT skills on the job really got them excited.
As well as completing coursework units as part of their apprenticeship program on IT-related topics such as customer care, network management and security, defining customer requirements and testing, we also provide full training in-house with our experienced technicians. We find this ensures our apprentices get the best and most in-depth training experience possible. By setting our expectations high, and putting them into real customer-facing situations, our trainees flourish and they finish their course as competent technicians, capable of first-class support.
Our apprentices are given real accounts to work with very early on in their training, and are supported as much or as little they need until they are confident enough to handle them independently. We find this style of learning so beneficial both to the apprentice and to us as an organisation, because they are getting to grips with the technologies that we use, the style that we work in, and they're really getting to know our customers and their needs. Because of this, once they successfully complete their scheme we can take them on as full-time Databarracks employees.
It's so important for us to create an innovative and exciting environment for our staff (check out our Recovery Battle Royale to see the kinds of things we do to keep them on their toes...) because this passion translates down to our customers. We constantly get great feedback from clients as a direct result of an interaction they've had with our technicians. It's that positive feedback that is proof of the hard work of our team, and a testament to their abilities.
If you think this sounds like the kind of environment you'd thrive in, we'll be recruiting new apprentices in the next few months, so keep your eye on our careers page for more details.
